Plinko drops a ball through rows of pegs. It bounces left or right at each peg and lands in a slot along the bottom that pays a multiple of your stake. The middle slots pay little; the edges pay a lot and are rarely reached.
Example shown: Plinko by BGaming · Studio RTP: 99%
Type: instant game · Provably fair: usually, check the game · Bonus wagering: often excluded or reduced
How Plinko Works
You choose your stake, the number of rows (often 8 to 16) and a risk level. More rows create more possible landing slots. Higher risk moves value away from the middle towards the edges, so most drops lose more of the stake and a few pay big multiples.
Each bounce is effectively a coin flip, so landing positions follow a bell curve: the centre is common and the edges are rare.
The Maths
| Setting | Most likely result | Edge slots |
|---|---|---|
| 8 rows, low risk | Small loss or small win | Modest multiples |
| 12 rows, medium risk | Lose part of the stake | Large multiples |
| 16 rows, high risk | Lose most of the stake | Very large, very rare |
The house edge sits in the paytable and is usually about 1 percent whatever setting you choose. Settings change the variance, not the expected loss. Check the paytable each game shows, because studios differ.
Verifying a Round
If the game is provably fair, open its fairness panel before you play and note the hashed server seed. After you rotate seeds, the casino reveals the original seed; hash it, check that it matches, and recompute your results. Our provably fair guide walks through each step. If a game claims to be provably fair but has no working verification panel, treat the claim as marketing.
Before You Play
- Read the paytable for your exact rows and risk setting.
- High risk on 16 rows can produce long runs of near-total losses.
- Autoplay at high speed multiplies your hourly loss.
Every round has a negative expected return. Fast games make it easy to place hundreds of bets in a session, so set a loss limit before you start.

Can you predict Plinko?
No. Each bounce is decided by the game's random generator or provably fair seeds. Patterns in past drops do not carry forward.
Which Plinko setting is best?
None has a better expected return. Low risk gives a smoother session; high risk gives rare big hits and steeper losses.
