Provably Fair Explained

Provably fair is a way for a game to prove that a round's result was fixed before you bet and not changed afterwards. It applies to many instant games. It does not apply to ordinary slots or live tables.

How It Works

  1. Before the round, the casino commits to a secret server seed by showing you its hash.
  2. You supply, or accept, a client seed.
  3. A nonce counts your bets with that pair of seeds.
  4. The result is calculated from all three.
  5. When you rotate seeds, the casino reveals the server seed. You hash it, check it matches the commitment, and recompute each result.

What It Does Not Prove

It proves the outcome was not altered after your bet. It does not change the house edge, which is built into the payout table, and it says nothing about whether the casino will pay you. Licensing and payout record still matter.

If a casino calls a game provably fair but offers no working verification tool, treat the claim as marketing.
